The Muddy Monster is a professionally timed event using state of the art chip timing. Timing services will be provided by JMS Racing Services. Chip timing highlights include:
- Participants will be given a transponder attached to an adjustable strap that wraps around the ankle for use during the event.
- Runners will cross over detection points at the start and end of the race. For runners competing in the 15K their 5K splits will be recorded.
- Runners will cross over a detection point near the finish line so that runners can be announced to the spectators (please note that it is typically not possible for all runners to be announced).
- Runners will be able to receive a race receipt soon after they cross the finish line with their finishing time and other information.
- The start line detection point will allow for the publishing of a finishers chip time along with their gun time. As an example, if it takes a person 30 seconds to reach the start of the race, that time is deducted to create the chip time.
- Note: According to USA Track and Field Rules, the awards will be determined by the gun time and not the chip time.
- Results are tabulated fast and accurate!
Please note, chip transponders are not distributed to participants until race day and are collected upon finish. Athletes are responsible for their chips and a $75 fee will be charged for any chip not returned.
Chip Timing 101
JMS Racing Services utilizes the state-of-the-art AMB Elite Timing System. The AMB system debuted in the USA at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games with great success. The AMB system was developed with two goals in mind: 100% reliability and high accuracy. This dedication to reliability can only be found in AMB’s active transponder (chip) technology.
AMB’s active transponders have internal long-life batteries that switch on and off as each athlete crosses over each start, split or finish line detection point. Participants will be given a transponder attached to an adjustable strap that wraps around the ankle for use during the event. DO NOT remove the transponder from the strap and NO other chip may be used in place of the provided transponder.
For more information on timing chip technology refer to the information provided by JMS Racing Services.
